Why Fair Trade?

Coast Roast Coffee is Fair Trade certified which means we have gone through the process to verify our commitment to working with companies that ensure coffee farmers and farm workers have safe working conditions, protect the environment, build sustainable livelihoods and earn additional money to empower and uplift their communities. Supporting a system that treats everyone with respect means we value rigorous social, environmental and economic standards.

Fair Trade is the only mainstream model that guarantees a minimum price to help coffee producers through hard times? Producers who sell their coffee on fair trade terms receive at minimum $1.40 per pound or $1.70 per pound for organic. By contrast, the market price of coffee remains stuck at less than $1 per pound: too low for farmers to cover even the most basic costs of coffee production.
